Women's Empowerment thru Enterprise

WETE works in partnership with Oasis India (www.oasisindia.org). Karen is the director of the Oasis India business initiative, Jacobs Well (www.jacobswell.biz) which employs women from the local slum communities who are trained by the Oasis India vocational training program. The year long training program consists of tailoring, embroidery, pattern cutting, English, basic computer skills and life skills.

As the business initiative of Oasis India, Jacobs Well not only employs women from the training program but one day hopes to financially support the community empowerment and anti-human trafficking work done by Oasis India with profits made from sales. Jacobs Well is a brand owned by Oasis as well as a production facility for designers and other companies to manufacture ethical, eco-friendly, fair trade products. Oasis India is a member of the Fair Trade Forum - India and the World Fair Trade Organization.
